[Goals] Reading Resolutions 2019

Hi friends,

No surprise that I have some reading goals for the new year, I just finally I have a place to share them. Outside of sheer volume, I have a few goals with regards to the type of books I’d like to read. I tend to gravitate towards fiction, and while I certainly have read plenty of other genres, I don’t feel as though my repertoire is fully rounded out.

In 2019, I want to make sure to fill my reading list and maybe my bookshelf with at least:

  • 3 non-fiction reads—biographies, history books, etc.
  • 3 classics—think Moby Dick, A Tale of Two Cities, or maybe something slightly lighter
  • and 3 modern classics—maybe Salinger, Kerouac, or Hemingway

In total, I want to soak up 35 books. In 2018, I managed to read 29 which was 4 past my goal. 35 certainly seems doable, I just can’t be afraid to put a book down if I can’t move through the story. I don’t have a problem disliking a book, but the slow reads or inability to just make it to the next chapter are hindrance to my progress. You can follow my progress on GoodReads as I may not always post them here.

The last reading resolution for 2019 is perhaps more of a writing resolution. I want to post at least 2 book reviews a month. I’ve been reading as the year has wound down, lots in fact; I just haven’t posted for some reason. I actually have 7 books ready for review, so my promise to you, but more importantly to myself is to share at least twice a month. I think it’s very easy to feel intimidated by some of the super readers out here in the book blogosphere, but I just have to remind myself that this blog isn’t about anything other than sharing my love of books with others who also love books.

So here’s to 2019!
